Day Trips
Brecon
Beacons
One of our favourite parts of Wales - worth spending a
weekend if you have the time. If not, make sure you give yourself a
full day as there are so many wonderful walks in the
area. One
of our favourites leads you to a waterfall, where you can actually sit in
the plunge pool directly below it, or slide along the rocky bottom of the
river downstream. The children will absolutely love the experience
- make sure you take a change of clothes or swimming trunks!
The Brecon Canal is also worth visiting as is Brecon itself.
Gower Peninsula
You will find some of the most spectacular beaches in
the UK
here.
Favourites of ours include Three Cliffs Bay (which has limited parking and
is a bit of a walk from the road), Rhossilli - for the walks and the views
(see photo on right) and Oxwich Bay, which is more suitable for families
than the previous two. There
are
lovely views of Three Cliffs Bay from Oxwich Bay and there is ample parking,
toilets and refreshments. Port Eynon is not one of our favourites, but
is a very popular beach on the peninsula, with more shops and facilities
than the others.
Above left, is a photo of Worms Head. It's not a worm you're looking for, it's a dragon. Can you see him sleeping?
A photo of Three Cliffs Bay can be seen in the Caravanning page.
